Haiti, my half island

Born and raised in Haiti, everything in me says Haitian. The way I react to music, the way I love Compas, the way I love fried pork and fried plantains with pikliz. (spicy coleslaw). No matter what is happening over there, when I  am in Haiti, I am joyful, I feel home….

My half island follows me everywhere I go. I cook Haitian food, I speak Haitian Creole at home and i always have a flag with me. In my bag, at home, on my desk at the office. When I think vacation, I just wish I could take my car and drive to Port-Salut (south of Haiti) and eat as many seafood platters as I can. Or find a street vendor and buy “Pate Kòde” (Haitian patties), drink “Kola Kouwòn” (Haitian soda).

Haiti is my place in the world
